How to respond to campground reviews

A series of good or bad campground reviews can mean the difference between your campground thriving and expanding, or closing your doors for good. In the digital age, your campgrounds reputation is controlled by guests using online review platforms like TripAdvisor, Yelp, Google and Facebook to announce the quality of their experience. The good news is, with the right tools and tactics, your campground can monitor and manage your online reputation, and respond to all of those reviews and mentions of your business in a timely manner.

While negative reviews tend to receive the most attention, responding to positive reviews is just as important! Take the time to thank guests for leaving a review for your campground and to encourage others to do the same.

With 92% of consumers reading reviews online, you can’t afford to ignore your online reputation. An effective response will help ensure that a happy first time guest to your campground may become a regular, and 70% of complaining guests will come back if you resolve the complaint in their favour. The first step is engaging with them.

How to respond to positive campground reviews

It’s simple. Thank the customer, name drop, promote and tell the customer what to do!

  1. Say thank you and be specific

No one would let a compliment pass them by in real life. Apply that same principle to your review response! Make sure to reiterate your guests compliment to let them know that a real person took time to acknowledge them.

  2. Use your campground name and keywords

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to drive your campground up in search results—positive reviews work wonders in search. Referring to your name, location and category helps index that review online.

  3. Market, market, market

Is your campground well known for it’s picturesque location? Are you having a promotion next month? A review response is a great place to get the good word out.

  4. Give your reviewer a task

Not as scary as it sounds. Invite them to try out paddle boarding or kayaking next time they visit or bring a friend!

There’s a ton of potential hidden in a positive review response. Instead of one advertisement to rule them all, each review is an opportunity to sell your business!
